Adventure Kings swags have taken over campsites around Australia thanks to their high quality, great features, and very affordable pricing.

Why camp in a swag?

Adventure Kings swags are built for comfortable camping year-round. Each swag comes with its own mattress – the Big Daddy Deluxe boasts a very comfy 70mm thick high density foam mattress while our other four models have 50mm high density foam mattresses.

Airflow and ventilation are essential in swags to stop you feeling stuffy and claustrophobic. Have a look at our two most popular models – the Big Daddy and the Big Daddy Deluxe – and you’ll see how we’ve designed them to ensure airflow is possible all year round, in rain or shine. Large storm flaps at each end of the swag allow a breeze to blow through, even it’s it’s raining, and the huge roll-up side flaps take ventilation to a whole new level when you’re camping on a hot summer night. Roll them up, keep your mozzie and midge proof mesh zipped up, and you’re essentially sleeping in a massive mozzie net that will keep you cool without letting the bugs at you.

How to set-up your swag

We recommend you roll your swag out on the driveway or in the backyard before use. Take the mattress out and let it expand over a few hours – this is important the first time you unpack it. Do it once and it’ll be super comfy for every trip you take it on.

People often ask what’s the easiest way to season our canvas swags. We recommend you set your swag up without a mattress inside, using the poles to help it take shape (there’s a great video on the website that shows you just how easy these swags are to set up if you’ve never done it). Soak your swag in water, either with the hose or a few buckets, and let the canvas expand and then contract in the sun. As it contracts it’ll seal any pin-sized holes, further improving its waterproof qualities. There’s also a step-by-step video on the website if you’d like to see how we season our swags before you do yours.

Swag camping tips

There are a few simple things you can do to ensure every night spent in your swag is a winner. First up, when you get to camp, work out if there’s any slope in the ground, and always set your swag up so the head is at the higher point. This will give you a much better sleep.

Take advantage of the huge size, especially in our two Big Daddy swags. Stretch out if it’s a hot night, or throw lots of blankets in if it’s the middle of winter. Because these swags are so big, you won’t be pressed against the canvas which can get cold if it’s a dewy morning. You’ll never wake up to a wet sleeping bag again!

Speaking of wet, the 550GSM PVC bucket floor on our swags is legendary. Even in a downpour, this will keep your swag dry inside. Just make sure you haven’t set it up in a depression which can fill with water if the rain is heavy.
